I now enter the last stages of the Via Francigena before reaching the highest elevations. As I walk for hours, I can’t help but be mesmerized by the high, snow-capped peaks of the Alps. There is a strong sense that my walk will soon change significantly from anything I have encountered before.

The Via is completely changed from what I’ve experienced in the past few weeks. Everything they say about Switzerland is true. The pristine landscape, the manicured design, the efficiency, and the very high prices (US$39 for a Chicken Burger?!?)
